Hi everyone, Mike from Compass Paintball here.

Due to the coronavirus and related issues, Faith Assembly has made the difficult decision to close down Compass Paintball, effective immediately.

On behalf of the entire Compass staff, I would like to take a moment to say thank you to all of the incredible customers who have played on our field since we first opened 11 years ago. We have only been able to keep operating this long because you all chose us for your birthday and graduation parties, team-building activities, and general Saturday fun.

I would also like to thank the amazing members of our volunteer staff, both past and present, that have kept this field running. Without them giving up their Saturdays to come work at a paintball field for free, we would not have been able to keep this ministry running as long as we have.

I would be remiss if I did not also give a giant “thank you” to Don Robertson, who had the original idea to open a paintball field at a church, and to Pastor Larry Burgbacher, who heard the idea and decided to make it a reality when so many other churches would have scoffed at the idea. Thank you both for having the vision to bring this ministry to life.

And, of course, I thank God for the opportunity to participate in this ministry for so long, and to touch so many lives.

You may remember that we made a similar announcement in 2016, but we ended up changing direction and re-opening. At that time, the decision was made by the leadership of the field (Don Robertson and me) because we did not have the manpower to keep the field running. The field was only able to re-open that time because new volunteers joined our team. Unfortunately, it does not look like that will be the case here. This time the decision is final.

The post I wrote in 2016 contained a detailed history of the field and all of our ups and downs, challenges and triumphs. I will not rewrite that entire history here, but I encourage you to check it out to see where this field started and how far we have come thanks to our volunteers and customers.

Thank you all.

— Mike, and all of your friends at Compass Paintball
