With the September 30th registration deadline for our Welcome to the Maze speedball tournament approaching, we want to point out that if we are unable to get at least six teams signed up by Wednesday night at 11:59pm, we will be unable to hold the tournament. Please make sure you get your team signed up now by registering online.

As we head into the autumn months and the summer heat disappears, we’re pleased to announce that we are returning to our regular Ministry Day hours. You may recall that during the summer we cut our hours down to 8am-1pm to avoid any potentially dangerous heat. We will now be going back to 9am-4pm on all Ministry Days starting on September 10th.

We hope to see you on the field soon!

We’ve posted a new version of our rules tonight that contains a few updates and changes. Some of these are rules that we’ve been enforcing already, but have finally formalized in writing. Others are new additions. Here’s a summary of what we changed:

  • We’ve added a rule that you must wear your mask at the air refill station
  • We’ve updated our list of banned items to include tobacco products and e-cigarettes
  • We no longer allow non-standard paintball types, including “First Strike” rounds. This is a safety requirement by our insurance provider.

We hope these changes will make the field safer and more fun for everyone.

As promised, here are some further details on what to expect at our October “Welcome to the Maze” tournament. You can find additional information about the tournament by clicking here.

The tournament’s official rules are now available to download. You can get a copy of the rules by clicking here.

The prize package for this event will include:

  • Trophies for 1st place
  • Medallions for 2nd and 3rd place
  • Additional paintball merchandise will be awarded based on the the number of teams at the event — more teams means better gear will be included in the prize pack

All attending teams will be welcome to come out and camp on our grounds on October 2nd, the night before the tournament.

The Compass is pleased to welcome the CPPA to the event as part of our new partnership. Robert Stonebarger from the Indiana chapter will be at the field to present a special sermon during the day.

To register now: Call Don Robertson at (843) 209-5031. Please note that this is not our regular field phone number. If you would like to pay with a credit card, you will be able to do so by calling this number. You can also register online by clicking here.

Even though we’re putting a big focus on woodsball with our CPPA partnership, we’re still going to continue holding speedball events, and coming up later this year, we’ll be hosting our first such event in collaboration with our friends at the CPPA.

This 3-man speedball tournament will use a unique maze-like bunker layout. We’ll have some more details about that soon, but for now, here are the basic information about the event.

The event will be held on October 3rd and check-in will start at 8 AM. We’ll start play at 10 AM. You can save money on the entry fee by signing up early: register your team before September 5th to get in for just $45. If you sign up after September 5th, the price will be $60. Registration deadline is September 30th.

When you sign up, you can reserve your paint and get a special price: Evil for $50 per case or Premium for $45 per case. If you purchase your paint on the day of the event, those prices will increase by $5 each. This event is field paint only and all standard field rules will apply.

You can find details about the prize pack, the official rules, and more information by clicking here.

To register now: Call Don Robertson at (843) 209-5031. Please note that this is not our regular field phone number. If you would like to pay with a credit card, you will be able to do so by calling this number. You can also register online by clicking here.

Since we’ve announced that we will be closing down at 1 PM during each Ministry Day this summer, we want to make sure that players have plenty of time on the field, so for the rest of the season we will be opening our doors to the public at 8 AM rather than 9 AM.

For players who are interested in coming out on one of our Ministry Days, we’d appreciate if you could give us a call and let us know when you’re planning to arrive. If we don’t have any business by noon, we usually shut down early for the day so that our volunteers can get home, especially on hot days. If you’re planning to arrive after noon, please give us a call at (843) 735-9466 and let us know in advance so we can stick around.

If you’re looking to save a little money on your admission fees here at Compass Paintball, we’ve got a new deal for you! Starting this Saturday, any customers who bring in a church bulletin from the previous Sunday will get $4 off their entry price.

The bulletin doesn’t need to be from Faith Assembly of God specifically. Any church’s bulletins will be accepted as part of the deal.

Of course, there’s a little bit of fine print to go with this new special. The bulletin deal cannot be combined with our Groupon deal or any other special offers. There will be a one player limit per bulletin, meaning each player in your group will need to bring their own.

Earlier this month we announced that we were working on some exciting new plans that we wanted to unveil soon. Today, we’re pleased to announced exactly what those plans are.

Last week the Compass was voted in as the newest member field of the Christian Paintball Players Association. The CPPA is a faith-based, woodsball-focused organization with chapters in 8 states: Virginia, Ohio, Oklahoma, Maryland, Louisiana, Illinois, and Indiana. The Compass will be the South Carolina chapter.

We hope that this new partnership will allow us to focus on our first goal of reaching communities throughout the state of South Carolina. With woodsball being cheaper and more accessible than speedball for new players, our intention is to grow that side of our field and expand our ministry.

Even though the CPPA is focused on woodsball, we still plan continue to run speedball ministry days and events. We hope to see this side of our ministry grow alongside the CPPA.

We’re all very excited about this next step in advancing our ministry and hope that our players and community will benefit from the partnership.

We’ve already started planning our first events with the CPPA. Look for additional updates soon.

It’s been a pleasure doing business with the Carolina Field Owners Association for the past two years. However, as of today the Compass will no longer be hosting 3-man or 5-man events.

We would like to extend our thanks to everyone at CFOA for all they’ve done for us over the years in getting these tournaments up and running, and wish the best to all of the players, fields, and staff that will begin holding tournaments again next month.

As for us, we have decided that it’s time to consider expanding in other directions and will be exploring some great ideas that we’ve wanted to put in place since we first opened in 2008. This is an exciting opportunity for us, and we hope to have more information about our plans soon.

A final note: walk-on speedball will continue to take place on our Ministry Days as usual. However, we will not be doing speedball this coming weekend. We don’t have manpower to setup the field this weekend.

This change only affects CFOA speedball tournaments.

Hello, everyone. We have a few very important things to announce for anyone who is planning to come out on one of our open play Ministry Days this summer.

New Dates

We have changed our Ministry Day schedule to accommodate the CFOA tournament season and the availability of our staff. The new dates for July through September are now listed on the site’s sidebar. We will have dates for the rest of the year soon.

We have also added the current CFOA season schedule to the sidebar below the Ministry Day schedule.

New Closing Time

For the summer we have changed our hours of operation due to the extreme, dangerous heat. Until further notice, we will only be running our Ministry Days until 1 PM, not 4 PM. Please plan accordingly.

No Ministry Day Next Week (June 27th)

We have cancelled our June 27th Ministry Day due to the massive 5-man CFOA tournament that will taking place here at The Compass. This Ministry Day has been rescheduled for the following week, July 4th.
